Penguins Recall Forward Jason Williams from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Jason Williams from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Williams, 31, has appeared in seven NHL games this season for Pittsburgh, tallying one goal and one assist while averaging 10:22 minutes per game.
The London, ON native has spent the majority of the season with season with WBS, ranking second on the team with 25 assists and fourth with 32 points. Williams is currently in the midst of a season-high five-game point streak, during which he has tallied eight points (2G-6A).
Williams has appeared in 454 career regular-season games with Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, Atlanta, Dallas and the Penguins, scoring 94 goals, 133 assists and 227 points. The 5-foot-11, 193 pound forward has three points (1G-2A) in 27 career postseason contests.
Williams, who was originally signed by Detroit as an undrafted free agent on Sept. 18, 2000, was a member of Detroit's 2001-02 Stanley Cup championship squad.
Williams played four seasons with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 1996-2000, collecting 74 goals and 194 points in 225 games. He added eight points (4G-4A) in 24 playoff games.
